Five cities. One production partner.

A little while ago, a post popped up on Facebook looking for videographers in Sydney, Auckland and Melbourne. I sent a DM.

Quite a few people tagged me in the post too, which made me smile because this is exactly the kind of brief people have come to know me for.

I had crews in all three cities. And, as it happened, I could also help in Perth and Adelaide. Which was rather handy, because the brief quickly became five locations, with around a week’s notice.

Before I’d even sent the quote to the client, I had trusted crew on standby in every city ready to go.

Then another request came through: could we add photography at the Sydney event?

Absolutely.

Within the hour, that was locked in too.

The client told me that they’d never worked with a production team quite like mine before. Previously, when they needed content in different cities, they’d find individual freelancers online and coordinate everyone themselves.

That can work perfectly well — until time is the one thing you don’t have.

Their roadshow was kicking off in just five days. They didn’t need five separate conversations, five suppliers to source and five sets of logistics to manage. They needed one reliable production partner who could take the brief and make it happen.

That’s where my network really comes into its own.

For me, that’s what great production support looks like. It’s not simply having someone available with a camera. It’s taking responsibility for the moving pieces so the client can focus on everything else they have going on.
