As the festive season draws to a close, it felt only right to round out the year with a little reflection — and a surprising business metaphor.

Believe it or not, business and scones have a lot in common.
Both take a bit of trial and error.
You need to trust your intuition,
Try new flavours,
Tweak the method,
And give it space to rise.

I’m a big fan of savoury scones — and also someone who cannot let a half-eaten cheeseboard go to waste.
So, naturally, my freezer is full of them.

Lately I’ve been playing with the ingredients.
Leftover olives? In they go.
Spring onions and bacon bits? Yep.
Leftover brie instead of butter? Honestly… it worked.

Every time, it’s a little different.
Some combos are magical, others just okay — but that’s the fun of it.

And the same applies to business:
You don’t need to get it perfect.
You just need to get it going.

Think of a plan.
Execute the plan.
Tweak it if you need to.
Trust yourself along the way.

Because sometimes, the most unexpected combinations turn out to be the most delicious.

Just like baking, success in business doesn’t happen by accident.
You’ve got to show up. Trust the process. Adjust as you go.
And sometimes – just sometimes – add a little extra cheese.
