EPISODE 11

Reflecting on the biggest two years ever!

This is the final episode for 2021! I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect back on the biggest 2 years and what I’m looking forward to in 2022.

In this episode, I’m sharing the journey my team and I went through from the beginning of 2019 to now. My business has gone from almost shutting the doors in 2019 to making over seven figures in 12 months. When the world was going through chaos due to the pandemic, the video industry took off as everyone was staying home.

I explore the challenges, the highs and lows, hiring a team member, and a business review we went through together. I discuss the boundaries I’m setting for 2022 to prevent myself and my team from burning out.

I felt liberated stepping out into the world hair free because I was surrounded by amazing people. My team and I work hard to build our clients confidence on camera whether they’re recording their own videos or on Zoom calls. Check out my private coaching and Video Accelerator Program for more.

Thank you very much for taking the time to join me this year. I can’t wait to see you after the break in 2022!

Topics discussed:

[1:40]: Starting with a reflection before Covid hit in 2019 in January-February. I was away in New Zealand and felt I’d burnt out building a video production business from scratch for 8 years.

[3:20]: The majority of clients we encountered were just looking to get their work done in the cheapest way possible.

[3:42]: In February 2019, I had hard conversations with my team that I couldn’t continue in the same way. I could no longer pay them salary wages.

[5:15]: As the world was going into chaos during Covid, the video industry started to flourish and become in high demand due to everyone staying home.

[6:14]: My calendar opened up and I had everyone from small business owners to corporate leaders booking times to have a conversation around video production. The work was flooding in.

[7:44]: I have a unique, fully soundproof TV studio space in Sydney where we conducted our business. We were considered essential as ‘data services’ so we could stay open during lockdowns.

[8:24]: We worked with clients who had their diary obliterated from keynote speaking and travel pivot into creating online programs. We helped large corporates transition their huge conferences into a 2-3 hour virtual show.

[9:24]: I became aware that I was doing too much. I was very tired and doing everything in the business.

[10:08]: I hired a new team member, my EA Charlotte. I was apprehensive but I was open and honest with my team.

[10:42]: We were able to do our biggest year yet. I went from almost closing the doors to turning over seven figures in a 12 month period.

[12:42]: Any of the content we record for clients, has its own style and unique way of filming and branding. None of the videos look the same.

[13:42]: I’m very honoured I have built the team and culture I have in my organisation.

[14:09]: I stepped out into the world hair free. I felt liberated surrounded by the most amazing people. I’ve had messages saying thank you for showing the confidence to get out and do that.

[15:49]: Encouraging people to be confident in themselves on camera. To level up with private coaching and through the Video Accelerator Program - Doors open February 1st. Join the waitlist.

[17:00]: At the end of every year, I look at what’s been and done, and where I’ve slipped up.

[18:19]: I have entered time in my calendar for self care and creativity. I’ll be working four days a week and have given my team flexibility in their working week.

[19:50]: If you’ve had stickly clients that are rubbing you up the wrong way, take note of what hasn’t been working and why. Nail down your ideal client so you know who you want to work with.

[20:29]: We’re working with individuals who are ready to create content for online programs or editing. We also work with corporate clients from around the world.

[21:12]: I’m taking time away from my mobile phone. It’s incredibly powerful to walk away and have some space.

[22:12]: Thank you for entrusting me and my team with your incredible stories.

[23:14]: Thank you for listening and I’ll see you in 2022.
